Daphne Rosenthal (NL) and Liew Niyomkarn (BE) present Board Games, an imaginative trajectory of geese. These animals live next door, by the pond, in almost any town. Their lives are hardly noticed to the humans surrounding them, except for their dirt on the pavement. Who are these animals? Where were they born, and where will they die? In this film, their presence is evoked through layers of field recordings, suspended time stretches, and animation. In artificial environment their presence is animated and played with with symbolic artefacts, suggesting parallel paths of life, out of context, out of control. This film explores the side-by-side existence of different species and objects, their migration, the role of chance, coincidence, representation. How much is it possible to grasp the lives of other organisms and the whole world beyond our existence? (15', digital, 2023)
